Angiolina Cometti, Business Owner of Cometti srl, tells us about the company.

An engaging conversation about the company’s story, the motivations behind choosing Breton machinery, and plans for future development.

A family story

Founded in 1982 by Francesco Cometti after years of hands-on experience in the stone industry, Cometti started as a specialist in third-party granite polishing, serving customers across Italy and several European markets. Built on determination, hard work, and deep respect for natural stone, the company grew steadily, one machine at a time, guided by a family-led entrepreneurial spirit.

That passion remains central today. Every new slab is an invitation to pause and admire: “Look at what nature can do.” This mindset shaped Cometti from the beginning, turning daily work with stone into a constant pursuit of quality.

In 1993, Cometti reached another milestone, becoming the first company in Italy to experiment with granite slab resin treatment. The process proved effective in addressing porosity and micro-cracks in both domestic and international granites, improving performance while preserving each stone’s natural character.

Trust is key

Cometti’s relationship with Breton is built on trust and a shared entrepreneurial mindset. When Francesco Cometti was ready to start over but lacked the funds for machinery, Breton backed his skills and determination, helping launch a partnership that helped shape Cometti’s growth.

Over the years, our collaboration has stayed steady, thanks to reliable technology and responsive support. Step by step, Cometti expanded from its first investment to the recent purchase of its eleventh Breton machine.

More than a supplier, Breton has become a long-term partner in Cometti’s development, strengthening operational continuity, ensuring consistently high-quality standards, and enabling the company to evolve with confidence.

Why Kappa G

Cometti invested in the new Breton Kappa G 6000 to respond to a clear operational priority: increasing productivity and competitiveness in a changing subcontracting market, where batch formats and incoming slab quality can vary significantly.

As workloads shift from taller to shorter packs, and increasingly include slabs of varying sizes, Cometti needed a solution that could handle frequent changes without stopping the process. With the previous setup, even small differences in pack height required emptying and resetting the machine, causing downtime and reducing throughput. With the Breton Kappa G 6000 and its Tetrix system, this constraint has been eliminated, providing a more continuous workflow and seamless transitions between different pack configurations.

Beyond improving day-to-day efficiency, the investment strengthens Cometti’s ability to respond faster to customers, increase both output and flexibility, and maintain flexibility, key advantages for a third-party processor operating in an increasingly demanding market.

Looking ahead

Cometti’s vision for the future is shaped by a clear market trend: incoming materials have become increasingly premium, requiring more processing steps and greater technical precision. The company believes demand for mid-to-high-end stone will remain strong, even if lower-end segments slow down.

In this context, Cometti will continue to invest in process capability and operational readiness—meeting higher standards, responding reliably to customers, and staying aligned with a market that increasingly rewards quality.
