Full interview
Ms. Aleksandra Krebel, CEO of Kamen Pazin, tells us about the company.
An engaging conversation about the company’s story, the motivations behind choosing Breton machinery, and plans for future development.
Over 70 years of history
Founded in 1954, Kamen Pazin brings over 70 years of experience in the natural stone industry. Established in a challenging historical context, the company built its growth on visionary leadership and a deep passion for stone.
Today, Kamen Pazin is a recognized international player, operating eight active quarries, including Kanfanar, renowned worldwide for its Giallo d’Istria stone. The Pazin headquarters hosts production, research and development, sales, and in-house installation, ensuring full control over the entire value chain.
With around 350 employees, the company operates globally, from the United States to China, while Europe remains its primary market.

An ambitious project
To develop more advanced and differentiated products, Kamen Pazin reorganized its cutting operations by replacing eight traditional bridge saws with an integrated solution developed in collaboration with Breton, combining Breton Evonix and Breton SpeedX.
The new setup optimized both productivity and working conditions. This reorganization reduced the number of operators from 16 to 6, improving safety, ergonomics, and overall efficiency.
The project delivered clear, measurable results: material utilization increased by around 20%, production capacity grew without increasing output volume, and labor requirements for this production phase were reduced by nearly two-thirds.

Why Evonix
Kamen Pazin invested in Breton Evonix, working closely with Breton’s technical team throughout installation and testing. This collaboration enabled continuous fine-tuning, leading to regular updates and upgrades that have steadily improved the machine’s performance over time. Reliable after-sales support has proven to be a key advantage in daily operations.
Breton Evonix - a multi-spindle cutting center with rotary bridge - features linear motors, allowing extremely fast and precise axis movements. It can cut thicknesses of up to 16 cm at high speed without compromising material integrity or tool life. In addition, Breton Pulse enables real-time monitoring of production and productivity, both on-site and remotely.

Why SpeedX
Breton SpeedX - 5-axis cutting centre for high thicknesses - expands Kamen Pazin’s production capabilities with extreme cutting power and operational efficiency. The machine is designed to process very large and heavy stone slabs, handling materials up to 50 cm thick and weighing up to 7–10 tons, with a vertical stroke of 1.2 meters that enables the creation of massive architectural elements.
A key advantage of SpeedX is its dual-area configuration. While cutting operations take place in one area, finished pieces can be collected and new slabs and cutting programs prepared in the other. This setup allows continuous operation without downtime, maximizing productivity while ensuring optimal preparation and workflow efficiency.

Looking forward
Looking ahead, Kamen Pazin approaches the future with a strong focus on creativity and innovation. Rather than fixed forecasts, the company concentrates on maximizing the potential of its quarries by developing smarter and more efficient ways to use stone.
Through close collaboration between engineering and R&D teams, Kamen Pazin aims to create new, market-driven products by rethinking existing materials, including less-demanded stone layers. This approach reflects a long-term commitment to innovation and the responsible use of finite natural resources.
