Paragon Flex makes it possible to saw slabs of different thicknesses, from the ever more popular 12 mm up to the more classic 20 or 30 mm sizes. This is possible because the machine is divided into two zones, one dedicated to all three thicknesses and a second zone dedicated exclusively to the 20 and 30 mm thicknesses. This means up to 48 wires can be used to cut 12 mm slabs, 76 wires for 20 mm and 57 wires for 30 mm cuts.

The structure with 7 rotating units makes it possible to limit wire length to 20 m, thus guaranteeing lower levels of vibration of the wires during the cut with consequent improved sawing quality and longer lifetime of the rubber profiles.
The tension wheels, one per wire, pivoted on bearings, are each operated by a single hydraulic cylinder to ensure uniform and constant tension for each wire.

The wheels and tensioners are mounted in a strong closed steel frame which runs along the load-bearing columns, firmly anchored to the ground and stabilized with steel tie rods to guarantee the total absence of warping that could prejudice cutting performance. Deformation of the columns during sawing operations was assessed with finite element mathematical calculations.

The wide range tensioning system makes installation of wires fast and easy. The pretensioning system, mounted on the set of idle wheels, aids insertion of the wires.
The system of ladders and walkways ensures operator safety during installation operations. The drive and idle wheels are easily accessible and protected by a sliding housing.
The valves to disable unused tensioners are conveniently positioned on the upper walkway.

The polyurethane profiles are made in Breton's automatic plant by means of a casting process (rather than extrusion); this means they feature multidirectional reticulation of the polyurethane molecules to produce enhanced resistance to wear. Each profile is dimensionally checked by automatic devices and a dimensional check is performed by the operator on a samples basis.
The system makes it possible to cut with a 5.3 mm thick wire, thus reducing cutting kerf.
Maximum precision on low thicknesses
Paragon Flex was designed to minimise vibration during the cutting phase and guarantee the maximum precision in positioning the wires in order to minimise the wastage of material.
The system with 7 rotary units is composed of tension wheels, 4 guide wheels (2 low and 2 high), the drive wheel and the idle wheels set.
The high performance of the machine has tangible results in terms of production, wire lifetime, and maintenance of cutting positions. Also, with the “adjustable guide wheels”, also with small blocks, you can always use the machine in the best conditions in terms of the tangential direction of sawing.

Independent motorised positioning of the guide wheels is available as an optional feature. The guide wheels can be positioned close to the block (60 cm).
